Java Rules for Abruptal Completion

Static Initializers:

It is a compile-time error for a static initializer to be able to complete abruptly with a checked exception. It is a compile-time error if a static initializer cannot complete normally.

Synchronized Blocks:

The exception mechanism of the Java platform is integrated with its synchronization model, so that locks are released as synchronized statements and invocations of synchronized methods complete abruptly.
